Still more Museum of Glass

Here's more BIG stuff outside the Museum of Glass. 

This piece is actually quite elegant, but of course I managed to make it look like a little glass cupid riding a bucking bronco...or getting eaten by a carnivorous plant.

Hint:  Do not hire me to document your wedding.

I can't decide if these look more like transparent tendrils of fire or splashing water.

Basically, HUGE chunks of fake ice...about the size that sank the Titanic:

The wall is about 50 feet long and 20 feet high.  Ok, I totally made that up, but it seemed inadequate to say it was "really big" and I was too lazy to research it.  But you get the picture.  Ha!  Get it?  You get the picture?!

Ok, ok, so there IS a lot of cool stuff INSIDE the Museum of Glass...it's just that you can't take pictures of it, unless it's in the gift shop.  So here are a few translucent treasures you can purchase:

The Museum of Glass in Tacoma is amazing...and the best part is that the coolest stuff is outside...available to see any time...free.  I stood under the Glass Bridge and felt like I was floating under a surreal ocean filled with alien life.  I wanted to put down a sleeping bag and fall asleep looking up at the creations.  And to think glass starts out as sand...

Yes, those ARE chairs nailed to a tree. No, a tornado did NOT blast through town.  The owner of an artist coop in Fremont embellished this tree thusly:

Even more reds in Georgetown

This embellished window was sighted during the Georgetown Garden Tour; isn't it just fantastic?  After careful scrutiny, we artgirls decided it looked like someone had used gel medium to secure the pressed flowers to the glass.  Now of course I'm on a hunt for an old window to try this...

Unruly Birthday Bird

Actually, it's the CLOUD that's unruly, not the bird:

I find it ridiculously fun to paint on the little elastic strap from the birthday cone-hats.

Crazy Yellow Stuff

Somehow this bizarre little doll caught my eye as I walked down an alley in Fremont.  The window sill was up pretty high, so I didn't see the x-acto blade or rubber band until I downloaded the photo and enlarged it.  What kind of story is this little vignette trying to tell us???
