Skis and crutches! Crutches and skis!

You gotta love this crazy light fixture over the entrance to a club in Fremont.  If you look closely you'll see it's made out of SKIS and CRUTCHES...and then more CRUTCHES and SKIS.  I'm thinking there's a darn good story behind this crazy concoction.

Oddest mosaic ever

These are shots from a small mosaicked (is that a word???) courtyard in Fremont...right next to the big statue of Lenin.  The most random collection of flotsam and jetsam ended up captured in concrete.  Figures it would be in Fremont, the self-proclaimed Center of the Universe...as if a big black hole sucked in cosmic detritus...

This took a LOT of work...

I have no earthly idea why this sculpture was in an empty lot in Fremont, except that Fremont is the center of the universe and thus attracts random foreign objects...

Eggs grow on trees?

Again, the Center of the Universe (aka Fremont) revealed its mysteries. Who knew Easter eggs grew on trees?

Dotcalm? Bubbleman? Zylobowl? Garry Golightly?

While speeding through a wormhole in the Center of the Universe (aka the "Fremont" neighborhood of Seattle) I spied this zany vehicle with colorful metal bowls affixed to its back. It was worth a second (and third look) so I whipped around several blocks to find a parking spot so I could jump out and get these happy snaps.
.
So many questions come to mind I hardly know where to start. What is the meaning of the "Dotcalm" vanity plate?
.
.
Who is the mysterious "Garry Golightly"? A relative of Holly, no doubt, but why now? Why here? Why in general?
.
.
How do the chopsticks manage to stay in the tacky tiki container when this thing is barreling down the highway? And who is the Bubbleman?
.
.
And yes, Gentle Readers, I did play the Xylobowl with said chopsticks. It actually sounded like soothing wind chimes. Who knew a Toyota SUV was a musical instrument? And why do the different little bowls make different notes when they all look alike?
.
So many questions...so few answers...

PS: Actually, a quick review of the Bubbleman's website answered MANY of these questions.

Major Tom To Ground Control

As everyone in the Pacific Northwest knows, Fremont is the Center of the Universe. Where else can you find Lenin, a troll eating a VW Bug under a bridge, and a rocketship within easy walking distance of each other? Guess which one this is...

Within A Two Block Radius

All of these photos were taken within a 2-block radius in downtown Fremont; not surprising considering the unofficial motto of this Seattle neighborhood is De Libertas Quirkas...Free To Be Peculiar...

I've done my share of repurposing, but it never occurred to me to use spent bullets as tiny flower vases on a VW PeaceMobile:

Check out the way cool glass art wedged in between the fans. Whatever this place is, I'm thinking it's HOT and some very creative types work or live there...

Urban Relief Efforts

More eye candy found tucked away in an alley in Fremont. That's right...an alley. Public art so abundant that it adorns the alleys of this part of town...
.

I like this artsy "Whooooaaa, that puppy is tall!" shot the best, even if I DO feel vaguely voyeuristic (ahem).
